Cucumber Lime Ginger Shot Recipe

Cold and flu season is right around the corner. We are soft launching our Get Healthy With Dr. Adame Program with tips on how to stay healthy during cold and flu season, including recipes such as our Vitamin C Immunity ginger shot which can help clear the sinuses!

This cucumber lime ginger shot is a little different and the blackberries add more antioxidants.

Ingredients:

  • Large chunk of peeled ginger (about the size of your hand)

  • Juice of 1 (or 2) green limes

  • A handful of fresh blackberries (Optional)

  • One cucumber (Optional)

  • A pinch of turmeric

  • 3 cups of water

If you want to add some extra sweetness, throw in a pear or an apple (cored, leave the nutrient-dense skin on). You can also add carrots or spinach or kale for added nutritional boost.

Instructions: Throw all the ingredients in a Vitamix or regular blender along with about 3 cups of water and blend until smooth. I store in the fridge in an airtight soup container and it lasts about a week. Mix well before serving.

Optional: As your palate adjusts to the strong ginger flavor and texture, you can filter your shot through a small colander before drinking it.

How to Use: I usually do a couple of ginger shots after my morning work outs as a pick-me-up. Ginger helps boost metabolism so I am giving my body a little extra help. Ginger is also a natural stimulant (I avoid ginger shots after lunch), has anti-inflammatory properties, and curbs appetite just a little bit. I also try to do a couple of ginger shots right before lunch for the anti-inflammatory and appetite stabilizing effects.
