5 Simple Changes You Can Make Today: Drink Only Water

As part of our Holistic Medical Weight Loss Program, we teach our participants about 5 Simple Changes they can make from day one that require minimal planning, no time investment, and are completely free.

The first Simple Change: We encourage clients to only drink water.

That’s right.

Drink only water with meals.

In between meals.

We recommend keeping a refillable bottle at all times to aim for 80 ounces of fresh, clean, plain water daily.

We recommend no additives or sweetners, even if they promise “zero calories” or “zero sugar'“. These artificial sweeteners “trick” your brain into thinking it will need to manage a high sugar load and will signal your pancreas to release insulin, leading to increased appetite, weight gain, and impaired glucose control.

Avoid drinking juice, soda, milk (even plant milk!), energy drinks, and booze.

OK, maybe a couple glasses of wine for special occasions is fine…….

As you get started with learning how to drink water the way our bodies are meant to do so, you can flavor your water with a splash of lime juice or cucumber slices.

Note: Drinking a nutrient-dense smoothie is OK if that is your meal.
