Doctor In The Kitchen: Ginger Shot With Spirulina

This is how I start most mornings: A few ginger shots! Boy do they wake you up.

Ginger is great to boost the immune system and lower cholesterol. Ginger consumptions has been associated with weight loss.

To make the ginger shot: Blend A large chunk of ginger (about the size of the palm of your hand), a couple of peeled cutie mandarin oranges, juice of one lime, some turmeric powder (a few shakes), and enough water to make about 7 cups in a high speed blender. Blend until smooth. I do not filter my ginger shots. Filtering gets rid of the fiber and ginger.

Spirulina is an algae-based plant powder that is associated with anti-inflammatory properties that help improve allergy symptoms. Spirulina can help reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels too. I add about 1/8 teaspoon to each ginger shot and mix thoroughly.
