NCAA Sickle Cell Screen Requirement

The NCAA requires all participants to submit results of their sickle cell screen prior to participation. The result can be from their newborn screen or a blood test done later.

Visit The Genomics And Newborn Screening Program for more information.

If you do not have access to your athlete’s newborn screen, Email Nurse Becca to schedule your collegiate athlete’s sickle cell screen. This test is a venous blood draw and takes a few days to get results. We send the blood sample to a third party laboratory for analysis.

Cost is $30 by Venmo or Cash. We do not bill insurance.

We will email you the results of your athlete’s screen (or email it to them if they are over 18 years old). We do not offer medical treatment or medical advice for non-enrolled patients. Teens with positive test results will be referred to their primary care physician.
